Phase 1: Applying for Admission (New Students or Changing Qualifications)

Note: Skip to Phase 2 if you are a returning student continuing with the same qualification and already have an active student number.

1. Prepare Your Documents:
   • Certified copy of your South African ID card/document or valid passport.
   • Certified copy of your Senior Certificate / Statement of Results (Matric) or post-school qualifications.
   • Valid email address and active mobile number.
2. Visit the UNISA Portal: Go to the official UNISA website (unisa.ac.za) and navigate to Apply for Admission.
3. Select Your Qualification: Choose up to two qualifications in order of preference (e.g., Bachelor’s degree, Higher Certificate, Diploma).
4. Fill Out the Application Form: Enter your personal, contact, and academic details.
5. Upload Supporting Documents: Upload clear, scanned PDF files of all required identity and academic documents.
6. Pay the Application Fee: Pay the non-refundable online application fee (R160 for online applications) using your assigned student/reference number as the payment reference.
7. Track Your Application: Log back into the UNISA portal periodically to check your admission status.

Phase 2: Online Module Registration (Once Accepted / Returning Students)

1. Access the Registration Portal:
   • Go to unisa.ac.za and click Register to study through Unisa.
   • Choose your qualification level (Undergraduate, Honours, Master’s, or Doctoral).
2. Log In:
   • Enter your Student Number and identity details.
3. Verify Personal Details:
   • Confirm your physical delivery address, email, and mobile phone number for courier delivery of study materials.
4. Select Your Modules:
   • Choose the modules you wish to take for the year or semester.
   • Ensure you meet all pre-requisites or co-requisites for chosen modules.
5. Calculate & Review Fees:
   • The tool will display the minimum initial payment required to activate your registration.
6. Submit Your Registration:
   • Review your module choices and hit Submit.
7. Make Payment:
   • Pay the required minimum fee using credit card, EFT, or at approved payment points using your student number as the reference.
   • Your registration will only be finalized once UNISA processes the payment.
8. Claim Your myUnisa Account:
   • Once registered, activate your myUnisa student portal account to access online course material, assignments, and announcements.
